| I saw a circuit schematic for the Michigan Mighty Mite 500 milliwatt QRP transmitter and knew I had the parts to throw one together (minus the XTALS). I threw this version together in a couple of hours and bought/added a switch with two XTALS for 7030 and 7040 KHz. Circuit is below. I have worked the stations below in the log so far. I built this rig today 12/23/09 on the 46th anniversary of getting my first ham novice ticket WN2MIC. |

| The bug is of unknown manufacture bought at a hamfest many years ago. It looks to be homebrew? The variable capacitor is from a defunct AM radio. The transistor is a 2N2222 from the junk box as are all the other parts. The form is a spent pill container. |

Schematic The tank coil is made using a 1.25 inch pill bottle wrapping it typically with #20 - #22 AWG enameled wire. I didn't have any so I simply stripped a length of Ethernet cable and used the insulated wire inside. I made L1 for 40 meters by wrapping the wire around the pill bottle 14 turns and then making a 1-inch loop outward twisting it for the tap and then continuing to wrap until completing 21 turns. This is the primary side. I wrapped the wire tight side-by-side (non-overlapping). I then wrapped L2 by winding 4 turns over the 14 turns off L1 also side-by-side (non-overlapping). |
