I've always wanted to try a multi-dipole antenna with a single coax
feed. Knowing that an open-wire fed single dipole would work,
perhaps better, I decided to try anyway. The images below are the
details of the antenna I built on 03/11/06 and hoisted up on 03/12/06 as
a sloper - 40 feet at one end and 10 feet at the other. I added a
6-inch wide 6 turn coax choke and that helped with making the antenna
trasnmatch with the Palstar AT1500CV tuner on 12 meters. I
don't worry much about SWR as long a the rig is seeing a low SWR at the
transmatch. Though
still testing out this antenna on the WARC bands plus 6, it works DX
just fine on 30 and 17 meters. Initial test results on 30 meters:
